ON PROCESS:
Practice Makes Progress

Owning a successful small business doesn't mean you don't have daily failures.

Sometimes a portion of my day is a total wash. I melt things I'm not supposed to melt, I drop a diamond and have to grovel on the floor to find it (sometimes I do - sometimes I don't...its 50/50) or I spend waaaaaaay too much time on my computer trying to figure out a computer related thing that would have taken someone else 5 minutes.

But today was a good day. After some time in trial and error, I figured out how to get consistent results from a process I've been working on for a while. So today felt good. It isn't something I could have learned from a class or asked advice on. The answer had to come from the doing...from the practice of the art and the craft.

When art merges with craft you can't learn everything in a classroom. Some of the art of jewelry making is figuring things out. No shortcuts.

The practice of art is in the practice.
